HAIR LOSS CAUSESKnowing the causes may point out the
solution!
This is how the hair growth goes: Each hair string has a life cycle of two to
six years. In this time, it grows, about an inch a month. After this growing
period, the hair root goes dormant or even dies, if it’s pushed out of the skin
by another hair string growing.
Normally, about 90 percent of all the hairs are growing, and the rest dormant. So
if you lose 100 hair strings a day it’s not a problem, it will grow back for
sure. But what if you lose more than 150 hair strings a day?
Then, you should consider checking a series of indicators in your lifestyle,
relatives, diet and even see a dermatologist. Hair loss is a serious
matter, it affects your social and intimate life, and it may even decrease your
self esteem.
Here is a series of things you need to check at the very first sign of
hair loss:
- Your diet. Try to have a balanced diet, or your whole body suffers. For
normal hair health, there are a lot of vitamins, proteins, minerals and oils
that must be part of your diet. A rich, varied diet helps having a healthy hair.
- Stress. High levels of stress are dangerous to your body in many ways,
and hair loss is one respond of the body to this problem. Some forms of stress
cannot be avoided, such as a hard breakup, financial problems or losing someone
close. But no matter what the cause for this stress is, you can take cautions to
reduce it, and a great way to do so is exercise. A great stress relief may be
found in yoga, aromatherapy, meditation, or anything that makes you relax.
- The scalp may be sick. Try seeing a dermatologist; you may have a fungal
infection that causes hair loss. Seek help until it’s not too late!
- Some hair shampoos may be very inappropriate for your scalp and cause
hair loss. If your skin becomes dry and itchy after you wash your hair, it’s
definitely time to change the shampoo.
- There are genetic reasons for hair loss too. If your parents have this
problem, it’s almost sure that you will too. Unfortunately, there is not much
you can do in this situation, I’s irreversible. Tough one!
- If there is no apparent reason for you losing hair, maybe it’s time to
see a doctor. Lupus and diabetes are, among many others, very common causes for
hair loss. These conditions are very serious and if you reach a doctor in time,
you have a chance to fight them. Using some hair loss treatments also may cause
even more hair to leave your head. Why? Because not all the products out there
are meant to work, but are rather scams. Or some are simply not suited for you.
Or perhaps you use bad hair products, like hair dyes, perms... Or your hair
doesn’t handle very well curling irons or blow dryers, and your hair is burnt
and falling.
