Breast Enhancement Surgery......the most popular breast enhancement but how safe is it on the long run?Breast enhancement surgery, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is one of the most popular invasive surgical procedures among cosmetic plastic surgeries performed in 2000. As a mater of fact in July 2001 ASPS released a document saying that 212,500 breast augmentations were performed in year 2000. In the mean time millions of women are infatuated with these modern day techniques. An important thing to remember is that silicone gel implants were banned in 1992 by FDA. Health insurance will not cover a ruptured silicone breast implant. Saline filled implants have a higher leaking rate then silicone gels and will need more maintenance type surgery for replacement. Dr Lori Brown of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a study in the medical journal Lancet underlining that the incidents of breast implant ruptures are very high in both type of implants. Another important fact is that there is a 21% overall increase of breast cancer in women with breast implants. Also breast implant patients are more then 3 times prone to die from lung cancer, emphysema ands pneumonia than other plastic surgery patients. The study is based on medical records of more then 8000 women with breast implants, with both silicone gel and saline implants and more then 2000 other plastic surgery patients (National Cancer Institute (NCI), Boston University, ABT Associates and the Food and Dug Administration with Louise Brinton from NCI as lead author. Under these circumstances natural methods of breast enhancement became more and more popular. How many of you know already know about natural breast enhancement methods available? See one here... |
